Overview
PDF Reader is designed as a local-first Android PDF utility. The app helps users read PDFs, merge files, split documents, reorder pages, convert PDF pages to images, and create PDFs from selected images.
The current app manifest does not declare network, location, camera, microphone, contacts, SMS, call log, or phone permissions. Core document workflows are handled through Android file access flows and local storage.
Information PDF Reader May Process
PDF Reader may process the following information only when it is needed for app features:
- PDF files, images, and other documents that you choose through Android file selection or open with the app.
- File names, file sizes, and modified dates used to display selected files and generated output history.
- Generated output files, such as merged PDFs, split PDFs, reordered PDFs, exported PNG pages, and PDFs created from images.
- Local app preferences, including theme, language, recent records, favorites, bookmarks, reading progress, and cache state.
PDF Reader does not require a user account and does not ask for personal profile details such as your name, phone number, or address.
Possible Privacy Permissions and Access Paths
Depending on your Android version, device settings, and the action you choose, the following access paths may be involved:
Document and file access
The app uses Android document selection flows so you can choose PDFs or images. The app receives access only to files you select or open with the app.
Image selection
When creating a PDF from images, the app may ask you to select image files through the Android system picker.
Downloads and MediaStore access
The app may save generated files to the device using Android MediaStore or local Downloads storage. This is used to create and list PDF Reader output files.
Temporary sharing access
If you tap Share, Android may grant another app temporary read access to the selected output file so the share action can complete.
Local cache and preferences
The app may store reading progress, bookmarks, favorites, display settings, and cache files on your device to keep the experience consistent.
Permissions not used by the current build
The current build does not declare Internet, precise location, approximate location, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, SMS, phone, or call log permissions.
How Information Is Used
Information processed by PDF Reader is used to provide the features you choose, including:
- Opening and displaying PDF documents.
- Remembering reading progress, bookmarks, recent outputs, and favorites.
- Merging, splitting, reordering, and converting selected files.
- Saving generated files locally and showing them in the app history.
- Applying local settings such as theme, language, and cache preferences.
Sharing and Disclosure
PDF Reader does not sell your files or personal information. The app does not require an account and is not designed to upload your documents to a remote server.
Files may leave the app only when you choose an Android system action such as sharing an output file with another app. In that case, the receiving app handles the file according to its own privacy practices.
Storage and Retention
Generated files, preferences, reading progress, cache data, and local records may remain on your device until you delete them, clear app data, clear cache, uninstall the app, or remove the files manually.
If you delete files outside PDF Reader, the app may no longer be able to open or share those files from history.
Security
PDF Reader relies on Android platform protections, scoped file access, and user-selected file permissions to limit document access. You should still keep your device secure with a screen lock, system updates, and trusted app sources.
Children
PDF Reader is a general document utility and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly request personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when the app changes, when new features are added, or when permission behavior changes. The effective date at the top of this page indicates the current version.
